ScarJo a canoodling club kitty

ScarJo a canoodling club kitty

Tennessee Williams’ “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” opened to so-so reviews, but from the minute she hit the red carpet to the wee hours of Friday morning, which found her behind No. 8’s velvet ropes, Scarlett Johansson, who plays the “Maggie the Cat” lead, was the talk of the town.

Around 1 a.m., our spies spotted ScarJo in the upstairs VIP area of Chelsea hotspot No. 8, where she was dancing up a storm and “sucking face nonstop with her French boyfriend” Romain Dauriac until the club closed at 4 a.m.

Also in the club were Johansson’s co-star Ben Walker, his wife and Meryl Streep’s daughter, Mamie Gummer, and a gang of well-wishers our spies thought to be tied to the show one way or another.

“I guess they just really got into the Tennessee Williams spirit of things,” says our source, who noted that the booze was flowing hard and fast from start to finish.

When the curtains went up at the Richard Rodgers Theatre earlier that night, the famous faces in the audience outnumbered the ones on stage. James Bond actor Daniel Craig, “Deep Blue Sea” star Rachel Weisz, musician Nick Jonas and “White Collar” star Matt Bomer were all on hand to watch Johansson’s sophomore Broadway effort. (She made her debut in 2010’s “A View From the Bridge.”)

After a performance The News’ Joe Dziemianowicz called “alarmingly one-note” in his two-star review, Scarlett walked the red carpet in a black Dolce & Gabbana combo that clung to her famous curves.

Her Broadway showing is reminiscent of last November, when Katie Holmes brought huge star power to the Great White Way in “Dead Accounts,” which was loved by paparazzi, dismissed by critics and ignored by ticket buyers before closing Jan. 6 after only 44 performances.

While the Holmes role was more of an anomaly, Johansson, a 28-year-old born-and-bred New Yorker with a Tony to her résumé and huge movie star cred, just might be able keep the crowds coming (it’s set to close March 30). If nothing else, she’ll keep the late-night club scene a little more interesting.

UMA FLYING HIGH

It was fitting that Bette Midler performed “Wind Beneath My Wings” at an Audubon Society party attended by Mayor Bloomberg, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Edward Norton, Glenn Close and Uma Thurman, who flitted about the party with her lovebird Arpad Busson. “She was fun and playful and looked so in love with Arpad,” says our source. “I’ve never seen her like that.” Tom Brokaw gave an opening speech where he talked about how birds inspire happiness.

The always-sloppy Mila Kunis gave the sweatpants a rest for once after the Daily News ran a story tellng her to get dressed! Ashton Kutcher’s other half left Sushi Yuzu restaurant in Los Angeles in a striped shirt and jeans. It’s not great, but it’s an improvement.

BRANTS NEED BROTHERS KEEPER

Peter and Harry Brant caused a stir at the reopening of Marquee, bringing a Bahraini princess pal with them and air-kissing up a storm. “They stormed in in these ridiculous outfits, acting like they owned the place,” says our spy. “They were doing their whole act. They are so out of control it’s unreal.” The brothers, 18 and 16, tossed back Champagne and partied till the wee hours.

FRIARS ROAST TRIES A WARMUP

A dozen up-and-coming comedians are going to insult Padma Lakshmi, Rick Schroder and Dennis Rodman, and the big-shot celebs are going to sit quietly and take it. Starting Feb. 1, the Friars Club is hosting a “So You Think You Can Roast?!” talent competition series, in which comics who passed auditions last week get to skewer that trio of personalities. The winner will go on to participate in an official Friars Club roast of Jack Black on April 5.

“We both experienced the same things at the same time,” Gomez tells the mag. “But we’ve never once talked about our industry. She just became the person I’d go to for an issue with my family or boyfriend. It’s so hard to trust girls, so I’m lucky to have her.” The mag hits newsstands Jan. 29.

THE CLAWS ARE OUT FOR ZOOEY

Zooey Deschanel celebrated her 33rd birthday like a crazy ol’ cat lady. The cutie-pie “New Girl” star spent the day Thursday shooting her show with some furry friends. “Today I turned 33 and I worked with a bunch of cats,” she wrote on Instagram. “Dreams apparently DO come true.”

BEATZ & KEYS IN TUNE

At the Hard Rock Cafe’s VH1 Save the Music Foundation show, Confidenti@l asked Swizz Beatz when he and wife Alicia Keys are going to record something together. That CD “might be sooner than you think!” says Beatz, adding, “like, real soon.” He also claims their 2-year-old son, Egypt, is already a basketball stud. “He’s really good. He shoots with the left hand,” said Beatz. “You know how people talk about their kids? No, he’s like really good. I’m really telling the truth.”

HAIL TO THE CHIEF

With President Obama staying in the White House to start a second term, it’s time to party. While major supporters like Steven Spielberg and George Clooney likely won’t make the trip to D.C., Oprah Winfrey, Eva Longoria and Harvey Weinstein are expected to be there Monday when the big bash gets underway.

The music starts outside the Capitol at 9:30 a.m. Monday, when the U.S. Marine Corps Band strikes up the tunes, followed soon after by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. Later than day, James Taylor will sing “America the Beautiful” and Beyoncé will belt out the National anthem.

At 6 p.m., the post-parties get going with DJ Dan Moose, Alicia Keys, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson and Marc Anthony performing at the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball. DJ Nice, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry and Usher will fete the Prez at the official Inaugural Ball.

STALLONE CAP

Easy, Sly fans â€" it’s only a movie! Film cops take Sylvester Stallone away while filming in New Orleans for“Grudge Match,” the flick in which he and Robert De Niro play aging bulls. In the scene, an actor hangs by his foot from a flagpole with a sign on his back that reads, “I am a stealing scumbag.”
