Barbara Walters still hospitalized, vows o 'be home soon'

Barbara Walters was injured during a fall Sunday at the British Ambassador's residence in Washington D.C.

ABC News’ Barbara Walters is still hospitalized while she recovers from an inauguration weekend tumble she took down a flight of stairs.

Walters, 83, was injured her head at the British Amabassador’s residence in Washington D.C. when she tripped and suffered a gash on her upper temple in the fall.

"I am running a low grade fever and the doctors are keeping me in the hospital until my temperature is normal. I'm pleased to say that it is going in the right direction and I will be home soon,"Walters said in a statement read by Whoopi Goldberg on Tuesday’s edition of “The View.”

The veteran journalist also said she wanted to "thank all the people who have called, written and been concerned about me."
