Cornwell: I have a 'big' life

BOSTON â€" Best-selling crime author Patricia Cornwell defended her costly ways, saying she can’t be frugal because she has “a big life.”

The author was unapologetic about her private jets, helicopter and swank estate outside of Boston as she continued testimony in her case against financial advisers she claims scammed her.

"I'm still not known for being frugal. I have a big life," Cornwell said Monday during her federal court lawsuit against Anchin, Block, Anchin LLP, the financial firm she claims mishandled $ 89 million of her money.

She fired the financial gurus in 2009 and hired another firm to look after her personal and corporate businesses.

“I am in better financial shape now than the entire time I was with them," she said.

But all hasn't gone well for the crime writer since shedding her former money men.

Cornwell said four months after firing the firm, the Department of Justice came knocking at her door after the financial company "self-reported" a string of illegal campaign contribution the author claims were orchestrated by Anchin partner Eric Snapper.
